We certainly did!
My very good friend Diane celebrated a special Birthday (ok she was 40 - sshh!) with a girly night out at Amoré in July, and what a great night we had.
The evening started with pre dinner drinks downstairs in the bar before heading up to the beautiful Italian Restaurant upstairs where we were welcomed by Fernandes and Renata. As we chatted and Di opened presents and cards we nibbled on Garlic Bread Arrabiata, topped with tomato and fresh chilli - very moorish.
The selection of starters promptly arrived and included Scallops wrapped in pancetta with pumpkin puree and sage butter, Pan fried wild mushrooms, caramelised red onion & crostini bread (fabulous assortment of every delicious mushroom imaginable), Goats cheese & pepperonata served on toasted bread and good old Italian minestrone soup with warm focaccia bread.
Time for a quick shot before the main course (when in Italy do as the Italians do!), for the party girl it was a Flaming Sambuka - makes a change from candles on a cake!
The rest of us sampled the Italian lemon liqueur, Limoncello which got the thumbs up all round.
On to the main course, several ladies chose from the wonderful range of pasta dishes and as usual the homemade lasagne was a hit. Diane enjoyed the Linguine tossed with prawns, salmon, squid, chilli, cream and tomato, whilst myself and Mel opted for our favourite at Amoré, the Spiced sea bream with caponata & salad - surely their signature dish. Several side dishes are available and we chose a selection of new potatoes tossed in garlic butter, carrots baked in white wine & herbs and to die for home cooked chips!
Not many of us could find room for dessert but those that did enjoyed Semi Freddo, iced raspberry parfait served with fresh berries. Not one to be missed and no matter how full I am in the future I’ll be finding room for this delicious dessert.
For the last few ‘die hards’ we danced the remainder of the evening away in Macs which brought to a close a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
