Helsby resident, Amelia Standing, has been selected to row at this year’s Boat Race in the stroke seat for Oxford.
Amelia has lived in Helsby since she was little and had many fun days at Alvanley pre-school, before going to Queens/Kings schools in Chester. You may have met here as a young leader in the Scouts or as part of the Scouts’ activities in the village, such as HoHo Helsby, Jamboree fund raising or even delivering Helsby to Hand!
Amelia rowed for Great Britain at the Junior Euroupean competition in 2017 winning 2 golds and a silver. She is in her first year at Oxford studying for a Masters in Engineering Science and is the youngest of the two womens crews!
The boat race is on Sunday 7th April and the women start at 14h13. Wish her luck!
