Evie’s NHS Rainbows

At the beginning of lockdown, 8 Year old Evie from Manley raised an incredible £2,000 in just 17 days by selling hand made little wooden rainbows from an honesty table.

Evie’s Mummy, Susannah takes up the story “Evie started off with a table at the top of our road but sadly it was stolen during the first week! So her Grandad (who she calls Pops) made her a new one and set it up at the end of our drive, chained to a tree!

We had so many orders for the rainbows and were very grateful for help in making them from children and staff from Horn’s Mill Primary, Alvanley & Manley Federated School and Homestead Nursery. That’s how the amazing amount of £2000 was raised.

We distributed the money between NHS workers and carers at care homes (38 different people in total) giving them between £50 - £100 each to spend as they wished, treating their teams to show everyone’s appreciation for their hard work and selflessness. The workers spent the money on various things from cakes and coffee for the staff rooms to coffee machines and cheese toastie makers, microwaves etc”!

Grace’s Bakes:

Five year old Grace, a pupil at Ashton Hayes School has been busy baking delicious goodies for six weeks during May and June. Each Saturday, Grace set up a stall in her home village, Alvanley with a variety of gift wrapped cookies, flapjacks, rocky road, ginger cake and cornflake tart amongst other favourites.

Grace’s Mum, Becky told me how much Grace has enjoyed all of the baking, setting up her table each week and how much she has loved raising money
for our wonderful NHS.

Prior to the last sale, Grace had raised £250 and they hoped to reach a final target of £300. The target was smashed! and a grand total of £326 will be donated to NHS Charities Together.

Well done Evie & Grace and thank you to everyone who supported the girls.
