Runcorn Rowing Club has been established since 1894. We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) that ‘encourages life styles and values that benefit the local community’ (RRC development Plan Aug 2018). Our members include Liverpool University Rowing Club, Runcorn Canoe Club and the Runcorn Rowing Club (all ages from 11 - over 80, as well as beginners, schools and adaptive squads). We are run and coached by a committee of volunteers.

Our gym changing rooms and boat/canoe storage facilities are in serious need of urgent repair.

We have been working with Architects Glancy Nichols and Cost consultants Certo on preliminary designs for an ambitious project (£1-2m) to develop a new clubhouse, that will provide changing facilities, social area, kitchen, adaptive toilets, gym and additional boat storage.

We are currently consulting members, local communities, and key stakeholders about our preliminary design options with a view to submitting a planning application in the next few months. We need funds to pay for the baseline surveys, professional fees, and the planning application (estimated £50,000). We are applying for a variety of funds and grants as well as asking members, businesses, and local communities to contribute sponsorship money by running events such as the virtual Row to Australia event.

Fitness and wellbeing for all the community:

We are determined to continue to provide access to the water for our members and to support others wishing to access the River Weaver from the Rowing Club on Cholmondeley Road. We offer a range of community volunteering opportunities including, boat maintenance, coaching, committee, coxes, launch drivers and catering.

Rowing both on and off the water is a great way to develop your fitness or to stay physically active. Regular exercise, fun and companionship in all weathers contributes to our general well-being and good health.

We will be advertising our progress against our targets on our website & also our social media:
