Koraai, the new family run Indian Restaurant in Helsby opened it’s doors on 3rd October and has received very positive comments since.
We went on a Sunday evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Warmly greeted by Bakul and the rest of the team we enjoyed papadums and chutneys while we made our choice.
The interior of the restaurant is lovely and fresh, clean and well laid out. Staff are really friendly and helpful without being over bearing.
The menu includes the usual favourites as well as new fusion dishes using the best quality spices from the Indian sub continent. I opted for the Mixed Veg. Starter - onion bhaji, vegetable samosa and garlic mushrooms and Chris had the Prawn Chat, both of which were very good and plentiful.
The main course curries were equally good, both very well presented and contained a good variety of vegetables and excellent use of herbs and spices. A word of warning if you go for the Boti Jalali, it get’s hotter the more you eat it! Suited Chris though as he likes spicy food.
The Nan bread was probably the best I’ve had, not too doughy with a crisp base, it was just a shame I was so full that I had to leave some!
The restaurant isn’t licensed to sell alcohol but you are very welcome to take your own bottle and there is a good selection of soft drinks available.
If you enjoy great Indian food, whether you dine in or opt for a take away, you wont be disappointed.... give it a go, I’m sure you’ll return!
